Now, I’m usually reasonably patient with semi’s... partly because I realize they can’t start, stop or turn as quickly as I can, and partly because I have no desire to become part of the spare trailer tire. Once in a while though you run into one of the ones who pulled their license out of the Froot-loops box. Yes, I know that you might have to make a wide turn if you were turning right, or cut across much of the oncoming side when turning left onto a particularly narrow road—BUT THAT “THIS VEHICLE MAKES WIDE RIGHT TURNS” SIGN ON THE BACK IS NOT A LICENSE TO USE ALL THE AVAILABLE LANES, INCLUDING ONCOMING AND TURN, EVERY TIME YOU NEED TO CHANGE DIRECTION.

Now, back to this morning. Truck looks at cross traffic, thinks fuck you, I’m a truck. Granted 6:15am traffic, but still. Truck pulls out into cross traffic with a very wide turn. Truck has to slow down massively after the initial lurch to avoid hitting the curb on the other side. After very carefully avoiding the curb, truck appears to stabilize in the right-hand lane. Bear in mind this road has 2 wide lanes each way and a good sized turn lane in the middle. There was easily enough room to make it into the left lane without going near the right hand lane.

Now if that was all, I wouldn’t have brought it up. I’m happier with the trucks in the right lane even if they made a hash of getting there. But no... like I said, the truck appear to stabilize to settle down in the right lane. Then all of a sudden they seem to remember that you’re supposed to complete a left turn into the left lane, and lurched back into the left lane. Then, once almost settled in the left lane they immediately change lanes to the right again. Now I’m not too horn happy, but this guy got the full 53’ salute.

Also, lowered Patriot. Slightly stanced. Upturned quad exhaust (or more likely daul with quad tips). Sounded like a weed eater.

You may now resume your day.

I passed one weaving between two lanes on the interstate last night, so I feel you. Though Friday I owed my life to one paying attention and being to act fast. Traffic suddenly stopped due to rubberneckers, and he had to take the ditch.

Truckers are such a mixed bunch... that, above all, is why I don’t like being around them.

I really appreciate the good ones though.

My thoughts exactly. But then, Patriot. 90% chance of never going offroad, and that means you're stuck with a Patriot—why not make it different and interesting so it has some redeeming features?

I suppose. I recently had the misfortune of being forced to drive a rental Patriot for 4 days, instead of the Lincoln MKS I had reserved (thanks, Budget!). It was a truly awful car.

So at least it wasn’t something worthwhile being ruined by a stancebro?
